POP!TECH - wrapup

Wow! what an amazing experience!
Our 5 days in Maine were truly inspiring. Kalene and I would like to thank POP!TECH for giving us the opportunity to organize this event, Elizabeth and Andrew for having the faith in us and knowing it was going to be awesome, Jim, Tina and Will for being amazing artists and braving the elements day and night to both finish their amazing pieces and help us build the frames, and paint the piece above the storefront. And a special thanks to Nancy Rivers and our son Easton who came to Maine to hang out together and give us support. Here are pictures of the final pieces and where they were displayed during the closing night gala at the Owls Head Transportation Museum.

See everyone next year!

Interview with Jim Darling

POP!TECH Art in Action - DAY 4

Today was the first full day of painting and the weather cooperated. It was a beautiful sunny day and was the warmest it's been since we arrived in Maine. Jim, Will and Tina painted all day and their pieces look amazing. Lots of locals from Camden came by to check out the progress and express their excitement about the paintings taking shape as they stopped by throughout the day. One local Camden resident even brought the artists copies of photos that her and her husband shot of them earlier in the day! Tomorrow is the last day of the conference and the finished paintings will be brought over to the Owl's Head Transportation Museum for the closing night party. Take a look at some pictures from today...

POP!TECH Art in Action - Day 3

Today was the first day of the conference and after putting the finishing touches on the massive 8'x12' frames the painting began. 2 days to go and it's all fun from here....

POP!TECH Art in Action - Day 2

The second day was all work building frames, we worked from 10 am till 9pm... but we got the frames built and they are sturdy and perfect thanks to Kalene's solid plans and everyone's hard work. It was a long but satisfying day that ended with some drinks and an amazing pasta and salad dinner that Tina whipped up with ingredients from the Stop & Go...

POP!TECH Art in Action - Day 1

Kalene and I have been quietly working on a project for the last few months and this weekend we are in Camden Maine putting all our work into action. The project is a live painting event at POP!TECH called Art in Action.
Pop!Tech is an incredible annual conference which brings together the most innovative thinkers in Technology, Science, Business, Education, Government, Design, Art and Culture. It consists of three days of mind-expanding presentations.

We have three artists involved in the project, Will Barras, Jim Darling and Tina Darling. We arrived Tuesday and got right to work on a collaborative mural for above the POP!TECH registration area storefront in the center of town. Here are some pictures from the first night.
